Japanese Wii owners are about to see some changes as of today. According to the update message sent to Japanese Wiis, here’s what they can expect to see different after the update:

– Wii Points will soon be called Nintendo Points, and all references as such will be updated. All other functionality with Nintendo Points will remain the same.

– The controller usage explanation screen will be updated.- The controller usage explanation screen will be separated from the purchase screen. Along with this, the user will be prompted to confirm that they have any necessary accessories before being able to press the Purchase button.

Hmm, some of that is pretty minor, but Nintendo Points is definitely of interest. What stumps me is that there’s no update to correct the insanely non-intuitive purchasing process you have to go through to buy a game. Can we get some sort of setting to save our payment information, Nintendo?
