What does Affinity do in Monster Hunter Wilds?
TheMH-equivalent to Critical Rate,your Affinity inMonster Hunter Wildswill dictate the chance of your strikes dealing critical DMG. Unlike most games, each critical strike inMonster Hunter Wildswill only boost your damage by 25%. However, you can raise this value by equipping weapons, armor pieces, and decorations/talismans that carry Critical-related skills.
You can get decorations inMH Wildsby either using the Melding Pot at Suja or as a reward for completing High Rank hunts and quests. In both cases, the decorations you will get will be subjected to RNG via the game’s appraisal system. Make sure to also keep in mind that you will only be able to equip decorations whose levels are equal to or lower than that of your items of choice.
How to boost your Affinity in Monster Hunter Wilds
You can boost your affinity inMonster Hunter Wildsby picking weapons featuring a positive amount and armor pieces featuring Affinity-focused skills. Making use of decorations featuring the Critical Eye skill is also a sure way to get a hefty boost via its up to +20% effect (level 5).
If you cannot wait and don’t mind their bland looks, forging an Artian Weapon will be by far the easiest path to getting +50% Affinity inMH Wilds, as even their Rank 1 versions can get up to 15-20% if forged with multiple Affinity Infusion materials. Upon getting your chosen one, you will then be able to push that number even further by reinforcing it at any forge. Doing so will allow you to roll for up to four extra stats (five if upgrading a tier-two weapon).
You can get the materials needed to upgrade your Artian Weapons by completing hunts and mining while exploring. The materials needed to craft the weapons, on the other hand, can only be obtained by hunting Tempered monsters. Before you ask, yes, the materials will also be subjected to RNG.
