Keep building up that backlog

In a cruel twist of fate, Steam’s annual Summer Sale started almost exactly one week after I bit the bullet and built my first gaming PC rig. Despite owning more than 300 games on Steam and spending more money than I should on the build, I couldn’t resist splurging on a few games. What good is a shiny (and fast) new computer if you don’t have new games to play?

I grabbedDoombecause: a) I wanted to play it on Ultra settings and b)Doomis so bloody brilliant that I don’t mind having it on multiple platforms, as well asMax Payne 3because I keep watchingMan on Firewhenever it’s on TV.

In addition to those two, I snaggedHollow Knight,Burnout Paradise, andMiddle-Earth: Shadow of Mordoron the cheap. I’ve had my eye onHollow Knightfor a while, and everyone seems to loveBurnout, so I figured it’s high time to check them out. Oh, and speaking of finally getting around to playing games. I boughtHalf-Life 2during the sale. I’ve never played it all the way through. Since I’m a “PC gamer” now, I feel like I have to play it right away.

What games did you buy during Steam’s Summer Sale? Did you blow through an entire paycheck? Or were you a bit more thrifty? Share your game hauls, hidden gems, and regretful purchases with me in the comments below.
