RIP

The Battle.net URLwill live on in our browsers, but the app itself has undergone a name change. Now, when accessing your desktop Blizzard games, you’ll go through the “Blizzard” launcher.

The company updated the application this week with “a small makeover to make you feel more at home in the Blizzard universe,” according to the patch notes.

Previously, Blizzard had this to say about the then-upcoming plan to move away from Battle.net branding: “When we created Battle.net, the idea of including a tailored online-gaming service together with your game was more of a novel concept, so we put a lot of focus on explaining what the service was and how it worked, including giving it a distinct name. Over time, though, we’ve seen that there’s been occasional confusion and inefficiencies related to having two separate identities under which everything falls — Blizzard and Battle.net.”

So while weknew this was coming, it still feels odd and will take some getting used to. It’s sentimental!
