It’s hard for me to think of many uses for tablets outside of gaming, since it seems I could do everything more easily on a computer without having to paw and claw at an expensive touchscreen. Games I can understand, and so it’s somewhat telling that games are the predominant focus of tablet users.

According to a survey, an overwhelming 84% of owners use tablets for the playing of games, while 78% use it for searches and info gathering. 74% of them also use there little rectangles to send emails, and if you really care, 61% read news, 56% use social networks, 51% enjoy music and video content, 46% use them for e-books, 42% shop and 19% have “other” uses (porn, obviously).

Google’s AdMob conducted the survey, polling 1400 tablet owners. The results also show that 43% spend more time with tablets than with their computers, while a third use it more than their televisions. 68% use theirs for at least an hour a day, and 83% use them primarily at home.
