Previously,Forspokenwas set for October 11, which was pushed back from a date in May. At the time, Square and Luminous said it needed some extra time to get it right.
Another one joins the 2023 calendar
While this move pushesForspokenout and away from the fall window with games likeMarvel’s Midnight Suns, it’s still headed into a growing 2023 lineup. TheDead Spaceremake is set forJanuary 27, 2023, just a few days later.
Other big games have also moved into 2023,including the sequeltoBreath of the Wild,Starfield, andRedfall. Plus,Final Fantasy XVIis currently slottedfor a summer 2023 window.
Basically, next year is looking stacked with games already. It’s not like this year will be quiet, though. Sony Santa Monica announced thatGod of War Ragnarokarrives on June 21, 2025.
As forForspoken, it’s been an interesting one to follow. The game previously dubbedProject Athiais an action-RPG, starring a girl named Frey who gets transported to another world and gains magical powers. It’s a gorgeous game, even ifthe narrative gave a moment’s pause. Square Enix says more information is on the way about Frey’s journey this summer, so there might still be some more to learn before it heads back into prep for the new year.
Forspokenwill now be starting off the new year’s release schedule on PlayStation 5 and PC on August 09, 2025.
