The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrimcan add yet another accomplishment to its growing list, becoming the United Kingdom’s number one charted game for Christmas. This is the first time that the prestigious slot has gone to a gamenotpublished by EA or Activision since 2002’sGrand Theft Auto: Vice City.
In recent years,Call of Dutyhas dominated the holiday charts, butSkyrimmanaged to supplantModern Warfare 3‘s position after a few weeks, something that hasn’t been done in a very long time.
Although the gamer community seems to be increasingly turning againstSkyrim(as is the fate of all popular games), I’m sure the ever-bristlingCODhaters will appreciate seeing another title in the spotlight. I still stand bySkyrimbeing my personal game of the year, so I don’t think the slot could have gone to a more deserving title. Bugs or not, it’s a beautiful experience.
But maybe as a Christmas treat, we can dispense with the “arrow to the knee” references, yeah?
