Single-player game ruined by online logins

SimCitywas released today, and due to the controversial need to always be connected to EA’s server to play people have been experiencing long waits just trying to get in. In order to playSimCityyou have to login to Origin, and since everyone is ready to jump in and play it’s caused the servers to break for many users as seen fromOrigin’s Twitter,EA’s forums,Reddit, andTotal Biscut.

There are seven different severs, so the issue may not affect some players. Personally I haven’t experienced any issues on the North America 2 server. While multiple servers might seem like it would solve the login issues, the downside is that you have to connect to the same server to keep playing the same city. All of your save games are stored on EA’s servers, and if you can’t connect to the same server you’ll either have to wait or start a new city somewhere else, and some players are even reporting that their save games are being lost.
