Two of the gaming industry’s finest developers are coming together to produce a new title based on the popular anime seriesRWBY.The untitled projectwas announced yesterdayby WayForward, Arc System Works, and animation studio Rooster Teeth – all of whom are well-versed in creating colourful and personality-filled adventures.
RWBY– or “Ruby” – is an American-produced anime that first debuted as a web-series back in 2013, and has since gone on to receive numerous volumes, manga, games, and merchandise. The franchise follows the exploits of an all-woman quartet of skilled warriors -the Huntresses – who protect the world of Remnant from persistent invasion by a legion of monsters known as “Grimm”. Some of theRWBYcrew also appear in ArcSys’ ownBlazBlue Cross Tag Battle.
No specific details have been released pertaining to the newRWBYgame, but we do know that it will see players step into the roles of head huntresses Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and Yang Xiao Long. The game’s scenario will be penned by original show writers Miles Luna, Kerry Shawcross, and Eddy Rivas. Given the pedigree of WayForward and ArcSys for producing lavish and engaging anime-style games,RWBY’sdevelopment seems to be in very good hands.
RWBYis currently in development for unspecified platforms with a tentative 2021 release date.
