130 full-time and 190 temp Remember how we heard thatNintendo Europe will lay off 130 employeeslast month? It gets worse. Those 130 full-time employees will lose their jobs this week, as will an additional 190 from their localization department in Germany, reportsKotaku. Though some of these were temporary employees, many have worked in this department for years. These folks were notified in June, though. That original layoff news left a lot of people hanging; it’s finally happening this week....

Considers ‘a new business structure’ Nintendo has revised its financial forecasts for the fiscal year ending Aug 04, 2025 and theWii Uhas taken a substantial hit. The company’s sales forecast for the console has gone from 9 million to 2.8 million, while the 3DS forecast dropped from 18 million sales to 13.5 million. Nintendo expected a net income of 55 billion yen, but now it’s looking at a net loss of 25 billion yen....

Closed for one month Nintendo has just informed us that on January 19, the Nintendo World Store in Rockefeller Plaza, NYC, will temporarily close down. Set to re-open on February 19 (with a grand celebration including exclusive merch), it will sport a “new look and feel” (which you can preview below) when it comes back. There will be an updated interior, 3DS and Wii U demos, and a 15-foot gaming screen in tow....

Sony has revealed that the PlayStation Networkcould be downfor the entirety of this month, with its grand return planned sometime before Jun 11, 2025. That’s the current plan, anyway. The deadline was announced by Shigenori Yoshida in a Bloomberg interview. Even then, however, the spokesman made sure to say he was “uncertain” on specific dates. (Edit:Bloomberg’s wording implies this will include all services, such as PlayStation Store. That could just be vague wording though....

Last night, a number of PlayStation Vita launch titles were priced for Japan, bringing with it the good news that digital versions will be cheaper than physical versions — something that the PSPgo utterly failed to do. A number of games will also have special cheap sale prices for a limited time. First up,Unchartedwill cost ¥5,980 in packaged form and ¥4,900 in digital form.Hot Shots Golf 6has been priced at ¥4,980 packaged and ¥3,980 digital....

Android now, PC and iOS later Puzzle Questis back! After a lengthy hiatus, studio Infinity Plus Two is taking up the mantle from Infinite Interactive, with 505 Games taking over publishing duties from D3 Publisher. You’d be right to be skeptical. And while the free-to-play angle could get out of hand, so far, it seems worth a download, at least. At the moment we are able to playPuzzle Quest 3(no subtitle, like the second game) on Android, but PC and iOS early access builds are on the horizon....

Here’s a goofy-ass new character, though! Ys Net has released its latest monthly update onShenmue III, introducing a new character model. That’s about it, outside of confirming the$6.3 million crowd-fundedsequel to the Dreamcast cult classic will not be shown off at E3 next month. The project was revealed for PC and PS4 at Sony’s E3 presserin 2015. At that point — and, purportedly, still — it had a planned December 2017 release....

The figure is currently up for pre-order for 11,300 JPY (roughly $95 US), and you can view the gallery below to get a closer look. It’s weird, and she has a Xenomorph tail, but I’m actually digging the design — then again, I like Nomura’s work anyway....
