So now that our E3 coverage is in full swing, and the major press conferences are behind us, it’s time to take a step back and do like we do every year, and take a look at what Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony have presented to us. Each company has paraded themselves in front of us, showing off their wares and vying for our praise and dollars. So, tonight’s article isn’t about who “won” E3 — you guys got to vote on that — but instead, I want to try and take a critical eye to what happened....

[Update:Watch the debut trailer above!] [Update #2:New screenshots and concept art] Signal Studios, developers of theToy Soldiersgames, will be working on a new title for the Xbox 360 titledAscend: New Gods. As showing during Microsoft’s E3 press conference, gameplay looks very action-based and it will have “asynchronous multiplayer” in some way, shape, or form. The concept sounds interesting enough, so hopefully the ideas and gameplay will make this rather aesthetically generic game shine in 2013....

Here are some impressions I play a lot of MMOs, and not all of them are as updated as often asFinal Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Traditionally, major patches (2.1, 2.2, and the upcoming 2.3) deliver the stuff everyone wants, like more dungeons, raids, and content. But more often than those updates are the minor ones, such as the 2.28 patch that just dropped today. It’s there that you’ll find a collective of quality of life improvements, mostly designed to make the game more fun and/or fix issues the community has been having with the game....

At least it comes out on 4/20 RememberRampage? It’s that arcade game that ran its course after 20 minutes or so. It’s totally fun, but it’s the kind of fleeting fun meant for a weekend rental. Anyway take that 20 minutes of fun, with about 30 seconds worth of plot, put a Rock in it, and now suddenly we have a full-on Hollywood adaptation. Dwayne Johnson andSan Andreasdirector Brad Peyton reunite to take on the very, very serious story about a white gorilla named George who turns into a giant and goes on the titular rampage....

The high street continues to struggle High street video game retailer GameStop has confirmed it is currently in talks with various parties over a possible buyout, hoping to find an answer to ongoing financial woes. The news comes at the end of a turbulent time for the retailer, who recently lost their new CEO, Michael Mauler, after just three scant months in the job. The company have also dealt with a credit card security breach, as well as the struggle to exist in an ever-increasingly digital market, ultimately resulting in the closure of over 100 stores....
