A Halloween treat Sweet Homeis the weird, ugly step-father of theResident Evilseries. Never to be sold outside of Japan, the game’s mix ofDragon Quest-influenced mechanics and brutal, feel bad aesthetics weren’t likely to find much of an audience on the NES in 1990, but the game did OK in its home country. Since then, it’s been written about countless times, usually with regard tothe film that was released alongside it, and/or its previously mentioned influence on theResident Evilseries....

Remaster or OG The ballad ofXenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition‘s release has been a slow jam. As usual, Nintendo didn’t come out and give us all of the details in that initialDefinitive Editionreveal back in September of last year. Oh no, this is a journey not unlike the one Shulk took with his pals, as we slowly learn more and more with each passing week. As we pointed out back in March,you will not have to beat the entire massive game over again to unlock the new epilogue story content; which is a huge relief as I want to dive into that immediately, having finished it twice already....

Now in Alpha 3.0 Even though I backedHover: Revolt of Gamersback when the campaign launched,I didn’t really dig into it until last month— and man was it worth it. Now the development team has updated the game into the 3.0 alpha build, and the improvements are looking great. It forgot to be fun While the firstDestinymay be a solid enough game, it had a lot of stumbling points in its three year history. At launch, the campaign of the original was fairly lackluster and forgettable. It was the slow release of additional content, however, that did more to hurt the reputation of the game than any glitches, disappointing content or internet cynicism could have. When fans bested everything there was to do, it was nearly half a year before anything new came to the game....

Leaving to ‘reflect on what is important’ Raphael Colantonio has parted ways with Arkane Studios. The company’s co-founder and president announced his resignation in afarewell notethat was published on Bethesda’s site. Colantonio had been the head of Arkane for 18 years. The move seems like a positive one. Colantonio states “The last 18 years have been an amazing adventure — from starting Arkane in 1999, to making our first game,Arx Fatalis, to joining ZeniMax Media in 2010 and releasing theDishonoredseries andPreyto critical acclaim — it is time for me to step out to spend some time with my son and reflect on what is important to me and my future....

Atair and Ezio, future and past — where’s it all going? Ubisoft lead writer Darby Mc Devitt probably knows. He certainly knows what’s going to happen in the next series game,Revelations. Guessing from what he told Xbox World 360 magazine, he likely knows the story even beyond that, as he estimates that 85 percent of Assassin’s Creed’s lore is already written out. “We have about – to give it a rough estimate – 85 percent of theAssassin’s Creedlore mapped out, but new things always happen along the way,” he told Xbox World 360....

In the latest “Brutal Thoughts” — a video series featuring Jack Blacks’Brutal Legend-related musings — Black teaches the viewer how God built heavy metal roadies just a little bit different than the average person. Black touches on roadie arm size, the roadie’s smile, and even the roadie’s ears. The latter subject is by far the most interesting. Black says that an out of tune guitar might sound a “little off” to us, but for a roadie, “a guitar that has lost its tuning shatters his eardrums with a mighty scream — a warcry that compels him to dash on stage like a f–king cheetah to fix the problem so the show can go on …So the show can go on....
