So Much Drama? I took a look at the officialPrincess Bridemobile game the other day and it was garbage. Granted, I don’t like that movie, but I know plenty of people who do. It was a terrible, uninspired amalgam of boring minigames that had the balls to charge you a $3.99 entry price, and another 99 cents if you didn’t want to wait to unlock the rest of the games. Unfortunately, that’s a glut of modern mobile titles now though — you’ve gotta pick through the trash to find treasure....

They’ve stolen my heart Video game merch company Algernon Product have released images of an upcoming set of soft toys, designed after the hipster heroes ofPersona 5. The quirky spherical plushies are part of the “Cocorot” range. Measuring an adorable 70mm in height, there are nine characters available in all. Each plushie is magnetised so they can be perched without rolling away. Although they will be sold via that monstrous method known as “Blind Boxes”, it is possible to just purchase an entire set....

It’s the stream that lets you keep all your equipment from the last one With no E3 this year, the gaming community has had to make do with a hodgepodge of different streams, surprise reveals, and sudden announcements that have kept the writing staff of Destructoid on its toes. Some shows have been worth the wait, others not so much. We still have several more to go, but for my money, the New Game+ Expo stream has me the most excited....

Monster party This crazy game that has you evading giant monsters is developing aSuper Smash Bros.style roster of all-stars. Mothra, Battra, Gyaos, and Ultraman Tiga will join a cast that already includes Godzilla, Gamera, Ultraman, Evangelion Unit-01, King Ghidorah, Nise Ultraman, Alien Zarab, the Fourth Angel (Neon Genesis Evangelion), Legion, and Soldier Legion. All these tokusatsu (Japanese term for media focusing on special effects, typically refers to monster movies,Super Sentai,etc) films are things I would love in indulge in if I had the time, but if this game is as good as it looks it would be a better introduction to them than the 2014Godzillagame....

SoReal Crimes: Jack the Ripperis a T-rated DSiWare game that will apparently have you discovering the true identity of the famed serial killer. I’m calling shenanigans on this. One, the real-life serial killer is best known for slicing the throats of street walkers before butchering their guts to remove internal organs. I’m pretty sure that last sentence alone would be rated “M” for mature. Second, I’m pretty positive the true identity of the killer has never been established....

War will join his brother Death Whenever I incite the debate of whichDarksidersis a better game, it usually gets pretty heated, and seems split down the middle. But even though I do prefer the sequel, the first one is still a welcome return to old schoolZeldaadventure sensbilities, and is still worth playing at some point. Thankfully more folks will get the chance to do so, as Nordic Games has confirmed that the originalDarksidersis hitting current-gen consoles (PS4, Xbox One, and even Wii U)....

Assuming you played the originals on console I’m not sure if it’s a testament to the visual fidelity ofMetro Reduxor a stark reminder of how2033andLast Lightlooked on legacy consoles, but this trailer shows that the upgrade for the remake is quite significant. All the different game modes, and new areas and encounters are certainly welcomed additions. However, it’s the side-by-side comparison that really drives home how much betterReduxlooks to be than the originals....

CASTS OF JUSTICE! An abundance of cool figures and statues were on display at this weekend’s Wonder Festival in Japan with Figma, Kotobukiya and others all showcasing their upcoming wares. Spotted among all the expensive shelf-fillers were these lovely prototypes for Amakuni’s upcomingPersona5 range. The figures depict two popular members of the Phantom Thieves; computer-whiz Futuba Sakura and Makota Niijima. Both ofPersona 5’sbest gals (scientifically proven) are wearing their infiltration gear, with Makoto sitting aside her beloved two-wheeler, Johanna....
