The Game Awards might be worth watching this year

More killer less filler Welcome back! It’s another Tuesday, which means tonight there will be a new episode of the Spot Dodge Podcast exclusively on Destructoid.Topics:Geoff Keighley’s Game Awards event is right around the corner. The ROG Xbox Ally prices might have leaked, and its nearly double the price of the Switch 2

The prices for Xbox’s handheld console, the ROG Xbox Ally, might have just leaked prematurely online through the ASUS store, and the prices of the console aren’t doing it any favors. Asfirst discovered by 3DJuegos, two versions of the ROG have been found so far, with a cheaper option costing what appears to be599 Euros, and the more expensive version costing899 Euros. We should preface that any supposed leaks should be taken with a pinch of salt until proven correct, but the prices are pretty steep when compared to its competition....

The Super Nintendo is next in line for a visual compendium

A system well worth celebrating Bitmap Bookshas come out withseveral well-received visual compendiums before, but thislatest one— an unofficial “visual tribute” to the Super Nintendo and Super Famicom — is particularly special to me. That’s my all-time favorite game console! And there’s even a nifty scan-line bookmark. The Kickstarter campaign for the book is only a couple days old now. Unsurprisingly, the modest funding goal has been totally smashed and fans are pushing the page count by meeting stretch goals....

This indie title just dethroned a Valve classic as best-rated game on Steam

Stardew Valley, a beloved indie classic developed by a single person, has recently become the best-rated game on Steam, ever. Being so, it has dethroned Valve’s own stellar title,Portal 2, proving that big budgets and teams do not necessarily make the best game. As tracked bySteam Top 250,Stardew Valleyis now the number one game on Steam, with an average rating of 8.87 out of nearly 900,000 total ratings. With so many people grading the game, it’s genuinely wild to see such a high rating, as massive audiences tend to dilute the average....

Tower Control is the best mode in Splatoon

The Sploosh-O-Matic is my new favorite Splatoonhas gotten very frequent update ever since its initial release, and I have been gobbling them up as much as I can. New weapons, maps, and modes have consistently kept the game fresh, even for those who have already reached the maximum level. The most recent updates have put a huge grin on my face and completely changed the way I approachSplatoon. Tower Control is easily my new favorite mode, and the Sploosh-O-Matic is my new go-to weapon....

Update for Super Meat Boy save/bandage issues coming soon

For those of you who have really begun to dig intoSuper Meat Boy, you might have run into an issue or two. For some players, the bandages they earn in levels aren’t showing up on the map as “collected,” but their total bandage count is increasing. Yeah, that’s not supposed to happen. On a related note, earning the same bandage multiple times can lead to problems with the autosave functionality not working properly....

Use this template from Nintendo to carve your own Luigi Jack-o’-Lantern

Ask an grown-up to help though The art of the Jack-o’-Lantern has really come into its own in recent years. When I was a wee nipper you banged in some triangles and you were done, time to go and eat toffee. But now, the internet is full of excellent examples of clever carving, as people adorn their candle-lit pumpkins with the faces of all sorts of pop-culture characters. Nintendo, in a convenient bit of cross-promotion for the 3DS release ofLuigi’s Mansion, has released a template that you can print out, allowing you to carve the plumber-come-ghostbuster’s terrified face into your own pumpkin, scaring away ghouls and paying tribute to the fact that Nintendopractically killed him earlier this year....

Years later, Stardew Valley is still the best reprieve on a rough day

When I received the gift ofStardew Valleyfrom my husband back in December 2017, I never understood the importance or impact this game would have on me and my mental health. It is the exact type of game that I needed when I was a child, and as an adult, I’m not ashamed to admit that I enjoy it for therapeutic reasons. Stardew Valleyis one of those games that I play when I ultimately need to relax....
