Scraps: Crap we missed on 6/17/08

Last night, on the recommendation ofBlindsideDork, my wife and I watched the Spanish-language horror film[Rec]. At one point, a child uses her teeth to rip off a chunk of her mother’s face. And my wife wants to have a baby. Clearly, she’s demented. So I was thinking about that — the face ripper child — pretty much all day long, which is why we missed this reporting this crap today:...

Shantae: Risky’s Revenge iOS gets a controller update

It popped up last night Shantae: Risky’s Revengegot a stealth update on iOS last night that allows for the use ofMFi controller add-ons. The game was never impossible to play on a touch screen as it wasn’t that difficult, but of course, tactile controls always win out for a precision platformer — or at least, the option for them does. I gave it a test run with theLogitech PowerShell and I have to say — it works like a charm....

Sony exec discusses the birth of the PlayStation 4 Pro concept

I just woke up, Mark, don’t put me back to sleep Sony did not do the best job of explaining all of the benefits of the PS4 Pro yesterday. We know itwon’t supportUHD Blu-Ray and that most games won’t be outputting in native4K resolution, but those details weren’t mentioned at the actual live stream event. Now it looks like we’ll have some better information. This may just be an industry fluff piece, but getting PS4 lead architect Mark Cerny to explain the philosophy behind the PS4 Pro and learn more about the details of the system definitely clears things up....

Switch Port Report: Rain World

What if Mary Lou Retton was an unlucky cat in a global warming wasteland? Nic Rowen’sreview ofRain Worldseemed sympathetic but sad, which makes sense given that the game does a lot to invoke those two feelings. The bad news is, he was also feeling pretty disappointed when he said “I feel so badly for this game in a way. It seems so close to being something special and wonderful, but is just undermined at every turn by baffling design choices, poor controls, and frustration....

The maligned Mario Kart Tour pulls into Tokyo later today

No-Kart Nintendo’s latest mobile ventureMario Kart Tourlaunched a fortnight ago to, well, hardly arubber-burning critical reception.
