The Sonic the Hedgehog collab with cheesy layered armor is set for November 26

There’s something aesthetically not quite right with the Sonic the Hedgehog collab armor forMonster Hunter Rise, but you know what, it fits. I can’t imagine it any other way. The new layered armor styled after Sonic and Tails isjust silly enough to work.

Is this whatyou imaginedafter seeing theMonster Hunter Risex Sonic collab logo?

Free content is free content, even if it’s a little bit cursed.

There are three Event Quest rewards to unlock for this crossover: the Sonic Wear (hunter layered armor), Sonic Costume (Palico layered armor), and Canyne Tails (Palamute layered armor). I’m most interested in the latter, and least interested in the former — but that’s just me. To be honest, Chaos Emeralds or no Chaos Emeralds, there are so many cool looks for the animal companions inRisethat it’s going to be tough to stick with any of this.

The Sonic collab content will debut on Friday, November 26 with the Nintendo Switch version ofMonster Hunter Rise, and those of you who are planning tonab the PC portof the game on January 12 will be able to dress up like Sonic and Tails on day one.

Capcom has done some wonderfully out-there collabs withMonster Hunterbefore, and I hope it won’t be long until we see another crossover that reaches out beyond its own internal IPs. It’s a heck of a time for cross-media synergy in gaming. The stakes have been raised. On some level, it makes me appreciate the niche stuff likeGhosts ‘n Goblins.
