Less Pikmin 2, more Pikmin 1
In a ratherinteresting interview, legendary game producer Shigeru Miyamoto has stated thatPikmin 3will be more in-line with the “stressful” nature of the first game than the relaxing second.
Miyamoto states that he didn’t agree with the decision to makePikmin 2easier, and wants gamers to feel stress from time to time. The result of the change was a less strategic game, that Miyamoto doesn’t want to repeat forPikmin 3.
“Our main aim inPikmin 2was to get rid of any stress as much as possible, so that it would be very user-friendly. Well, I myself couldn’t agree with that direction perfectly. That kind of nature ofPikmin 1was exactly what I wanted to reproduce and I was actually intentionally doing so, so thatPikmin 1could be a strategic game.”
Awesome stuff! The only thing I didn’t like aboutPikmin 1were the time limits, as it restricted the freedom of exploration. If Miyamoto can incorporate strategic, difficult gameplay that makes you think, and let us explore the beautiful locales, I’ll be happy.
