Anyone who follows NPD data knows that Nintendo isn’t exactly big on giving up sales numbers (nor are the NPD actually, anymore). Thankfully, IGN was able to unearth a number of Nintendo’s hardware and software sales for the month of March. Hardware wise, the 3DS pushed 225,000 units (nice!), and the Wii sold 175,000 systems.

In terms of software,Mario Party 9sold over 230,000 copies (wow!),Kid Icarus: Uprisingsold about 135,000 copies during the week in March that it was out,Mario Kart 7sold 118,000 copies, andSuper Mario 3D Landpushed 100,000 units. All in all, that’s not a bad monthat allfor a bunch of games that are on their 7th and 9th iteration.

High sales numbers forKid Icarusmay bode well for a sequel (Wii-U please) — when I’m not fighting the controls, that game is one of the most charming Nintendo titles in years. The overall top ten itself is just about what you’d expect (Mass Effect 3is #1), except for the oddly placedOperation Raccoon Cityat #2, despite being one of the buggiest games I’ve played in years — maybe people are just hungry for a newSOCOMgame.
