Avengers Spider-Man ‘is still on track’

Marvel’s Avengershas been out for nearly a year, and it’s had it rough. Because of the IP involved the project isn’t dead in the water (there’s a Black Panther expansion out today); but westilldon’t have Spider-Man, which was annoyingly teased as PlayStation DLC ages ago. What’s up with that. Well, we’ll get ourAvengersSpider-Man action soon enough.

Speaking to Screenrant, Scott Walters, senior game designer for the project, explains that it hasn’t been delayed:

Avengers Spider-Man

“In terms of what we can say now, we’ve always scheduled and looked to bring Spider-Man out in 2021 for PlayStation owners. That is still on track, so we’ll have more announcements later on this year,”

If I had to guess? The Marvel machine wants them to have it ready for the upcomingNo Way Homefilm, which is due out on December 17 at the end of the year. If the character looks rushed and has cloned movesets (like a Captain America run), we’ll likely know the nature of its development, too.

The studio is looking to turn things around in any case, with heaps of free upgrades and DLC,as well as personnel changes. An injection of an Avengers Spider-Man add-on is also a surefire bet for garnering some goodwill. After all, a ton of people initially bought the game: they just haven’t booted it up/have had it uninstalled for a long time. All it takes is a big update to get people playing again: albeit with less stingy microtransactions and more interesting content.
