You made me promises, promises, you knew you’d never keep

There were some shaky launches last year. WhileAssassin’s Creed: Unityhad faces disappearing and slowdown, andDragon Age: Inquisitionhad weird character freezes and misfiring dialog triggers, these games couldn’t hold a candle to the absolute disaster ofHalo: The Master Chief Collection‘sbroken multiplayer and buggy single-player. Multiple multi-gigabyte patches since November haven’t completely rectified the problems, and despite reassurances that the next patch will be the one to fix everything, here we are in February still trying to connect to games.

On itsJanuary 23 blog, 343 Industries announced that a large update was coming that would be beta tested through the Xbox One Preview program starting that day, and posted a large FAQ concerning it. The same day the studio retracted the statement, saying, “The content update is currently undergoing additional testing prior to release to the Preview program, and will be available in the near future. However, we are no longer targeting a weekend release.”

In itsmost recent poston January 31, the developer was fairly vague as to what its plans were for the new update. Currently, it is “evaluating both timing and need for a [content update] beta with the Xbox One Preview program, as well as the final public release date in February.”
