Air quotes: ‘Tactics’
Mobile gamers with Apple products have had access to the originalFinal Fantasy Tacticsfor a while now, though the good, pure, virtuous Android users out there have been left in the cold. Fortunately, the upcomingFinal Fantasy Tactics Sis coming to both platforms, so we can all finally get our tactical RPG on. Let’s watch this trailer in excitement!
The video starts off about as expected, with someFinal Fantasy Tactics Advance-style character art, but then the battles are shown and things get a bit perplexing. Is it just me, or do those look like traditional RPG battles rather than tactical RPG battles?
Don’t get me wrong; this could still be good. It just seems strange to me to use “tactics” in the moniker, which implies very specific gameplay elements, and then eschew those elements in favor of something simpler.
