Your sneaky rogue companion Astarion is a great party member in Baldur’s Gate 3 if you build him correctly. Here is our guide telling you how you’re able to create the best Astarion build inBaldur’s Gate 3.
This elf vampire is set up as an Arcane Trickster Rogue. However, I didn’t unlock his full potential until Irespeccedhim. If youmulticlassAstarion asa Thief Rogue and a Gloom Stalker Ranger, you’ll get an incredibly powerful companion. Since you won’t find one naturally in the game except through Hirelings and it still fits his personality, you can find success in making Astariana Bard with a dash of Cleric.
Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3): Best Rogue/Ranger multiclass Astarion build
The reason behind choosing Ranger for Astarion’s multiclass is the fact thatboth Rogues and Rangers use Dexterityto determine the effectiveness of their main ability. The Gloom Stalker subclass is perfect for this cunning Rogue since they fight from the shadows and use darkness to their advantage.
I went for theThief Rogue subclasssince they get extra attacks. This build allows Astarion to inflict serious damage to enemies all from the safety of the shadows. If you identify a powerful enemy you want to eliminate first, Astarion is a good bet to get the ball rolling. He’s also a good option for clean-up when you don’t want a weakened foe to live to fight another turn.

Best playstyle for the Rogue/Ranger mutliclass Astarion build
While playing as this build, make sureAstarion is wielding two daggers. This allows him to strike twice, and with theTwo-Weapon Fighting Style, you inflict even more damage. I chose to give Astarion theLucky feat, which comes in handy quite often when you need to boost your rolls. You could go forAlertinstead, but sinceDread Ambusheralready gives him a +3 to Initiative, I thought Lucky was a better choice.
This Astarion build is highly dexterous, can teleport withMisty Step, and inflicts plenty of attacks each turn. The Rogue/Ranger multiclass combination really was meant to be paired, in my opinion.
Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3): Best Bard/Cleric multiclass Astarion build
If you already have the Ranger/Rogue slot filled, Astarian can be made into an excellent Bard/Cleric multiclass. The Bard/Cleric multiclass is one of my favorites in the entire game because they are a jack-of-all-trades that can heal, deal high damage, and take hits. For Astarion, I recommendthe College of SwordsBardsubclass and the War Cleric subclassto maintain solid role-playing while also creating an incredible build.

Best playstyle for the Bard/Cleric mutliclass Astarion build
The play style for the Bard/Cleric multiclass build for Astarion is toplay up-close-and-personal.You have unique sword skills thanks to the College of Swords, can take and deal additional hits thanks to the War subclass, and you have Bard spells when you’re not within melee range. I use a version of this Bard/Cleric multiclass and it’s truly one of the best in the entire game — it’s a bonus that it fits well with Astarion.
Astarion is a great party member that can fill any roll you’d like… That came out wrong. Anyways! If you’re still looking tomaximize Astarion’s effectiveness, you need to knowthe best Feats for Astarion.
