Boss Key Productions has taken this week’s Game Developers Conference as a chance to announce a few big changes to its upcoming Nexon-published multiplayer shooterLawBreakers. Namely, the free-to-play scheme is out. It “wasn’t the right fight,” says studio founder Cliff Bleszinski.
The new cost hasn’t been announced yet, but it “will not have the $60 price point of a traditional box product.” Additionally,LawBreakersis now going to be exclusive to Steam “at launch” (though these things tend not to stay tied down forever and console portsaren’t out of the question).
The game has also undergone a shift in art direction, which you’re able to see a bit of in these screenshots. “Being constantly compared to the current slew of colorful shooters on the market made us realize we needed to stand out from the crowd,” said Bleszinski. “We decided to take a step back and explore how we could dial up the maturity inLawBreakers, going back to our original vision.”
