Alien: Romulus Cast is as young as they are vulnerable
Much like the original Alien film, Romulus follows a crew of very unlucky space travelers who stumble upon and fight for their lives against the titular alien predator. The cast ofRomulusis quite a bit younger than those featured in otherAlienfilms, with director Fede Álvarezexplaining in an interview with the Hollywood Reporterthat he wanted to explore theAlienuniverse through the eyes of young people who are just learning how to navigate the stars.
The cast ofRomulusconsists almost entirely of talented twenty-something rising stars who have only just started breaking into leading roles in other films, so it will be fascinating to see how this cast compares to the star-studded casts of previousAlienfilms. Here are all of the actors featured inRomulus.
Romulus’ title has some interesting mythological roots
Alienfilms have a long history of referencing mythology and religion.Romulusis no exception. The film’s title, which doubles as the name of the abandoned space station our young heroes get trapped on, shares its num-de-plume with the legendary founder of Rome, who, according to the myth, was raised in the wild by a kindly she-wolf after he and his brother Remus were left in the woods to die by their traitorous uncle.
The story of Romulus and the unfortunate fate of Remus is a tale drenched in themes of siblinghood, andRomuluswill explore similar ideas.Inan interview with Entertainment Weekly, Alvarez explained that he wantedRomulus‘ core cast to be a sort of “small town found family.” If the founding myth of Rome is an accurate blueprint ofRomulus’story, the horrors these kids encounter might push their familial bond to its breaking point.
