Nickelodeon’s best game nominees include… Wii Sports!?

Nickelodeon has its finger on the pulse of kid culture Awards shows are pretty bullsh*t. Videogame awards shows, even more so. But awards shows on children’s networks like Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon are the cream of the anal muck. They have open voting to give kids the illusion of choice, but the lists of nominees are always carefully manicured to be as PC as possible. That’s the only reason whyTwilight‘s Kristen Stewart would be in the running forfavorite movie actress....

Pokemon Go’s next big thing is an overhaul for gyms

They’re closing soon In the very game industry specific time frame of “soon,” gyms inPokemon Goare going to undergo some changes. Developer Niantic calls it “remodeling,” and in the meantime said gyms are going to be closed. Niantic cites it as something that they’ve always wanted to improve, which makes sense as they’re all basically dominated by the same power users who have high-level Pokemon. For casual folks they may as well not even exist....

Rhythm Thief on iOS is getting shut down this September

It’s one of those online-only games Rhythm Thief & The Paris Caperis the latest casualty of war in Sega’s efforts to purge its mobile catalog for quality concerns. As of today nothing may be purchased within the app, and on July 26, 2025, it will be completely shut down. What does that mean? Since the game is online-only, presumably that it will not work. When mobile developers cease to support something, that generally means that the OS of the most recent devices has surpassed the viability of being compatible with the software, so said developers generally just give up — instead of going back and spending man hours fixing everything....

Sundered was definitely a game I played at PAX East

And maybe something more? Before my time withSundered, I knew little to nothing about the company, Thunder Lotus Games, or its newest title. It had previously releasedJotunon Steam and this new game is looking to tackle the well-worn metroidvania style of action games. Mix in a little bit of randomization and some skill trees reminiscent ofRogue Legacy, andSunderedstarts to sound a bit more interesting. My short session started with William Dube, the creative director at Thunder Lotus, explaining some of the details forSundered....

Take a gander at some Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered gameplay

Raven Software lives As I was ushered into the most packed tent of the Call of Duty XP event to playModern Warfare Remastered, I didn’t know what to expect. Maybe they completely revamped the UI and all of the perks, I thought. Maybe they added in a ton of wacky, out of character levels like the theme park DLC of later Treyarch games. Nope. This is literallyModern Warfare, remastered, and for most of you that’s going to be fine....

From the developer of Rambo: The Video Game WithTerminator: Dark Fateheaded to theaters this November, we’re seeing fresh signs of life from the seemingly never-ending sci-fi series. BeyondTerminatortie-ins withGears 5andMortal Kombat 11, there’s also a new licensed video game on the way that calls to mind the many less-than-stellar movie-inspired titles of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 generation. The Organic Indie Preorder Pack postmortem is a mouthful

A few weeks back, Wolfire Games and Unknown Worlds offered a preorder bundle that included bothOvergrowthandNatural Selection 2. Yesterday, the overall results of that sale were released on theWolfire blog. To make a long story short, the sale went well.Reallywell, in fact. Within the span of a week, Wolfire received moreOvergrowthpreorders than they’d managed to accumulate in an entire year. And since the deal was directly set up by Wolfire and Unknown Worlds, with no corporate middlemen or marketing budget, all that preorder money translates into pure profit between both companies....

What are your thoughts on $80 games, Destructoid?

It’s the debate that isn’t going away, and with the Switch 2 launch fast approaching, we wanted to peel off the band-aid that is the discussion of $80 games—and the discourse surrounding it. Let me be clear first about my opinion of these new prices. I don’t believe in $80 games; I believe they make gaming unaffordable, especially during times when many people have limited disposable income. Though I must give Nintendo some credit for one thing, at least, which was making the digital versions of these games cheaper, even if it’s marginal....

What the F: Grip-It slip prevention analog stick covers

Here’s a thing that is really real. It’s called Grip-It. It’s a cover for the analog sticks of your PS3 or Xbox 360 controllers. A Gym Hat, I’m calling ’em. They’re supposed to increase comfort and decrease slipping. Every gamer knows the hazards of their thumbs accidentally slipping off an analog stick during a game session; it can even be the deciding factor between success and failure at key moments. Grip-It eliminates this hazard thanks to its slip protection material that feels good on fingers while at the same time enhancing the sensitivity of your directional commands....
